Military Hospital 7A — Digital Health Platform

A digital ecosystem for appointment booking, patient journey management and hospital system integration.

Projects

Overview

The work spanned three connected areas: a patient-facing appointment app, a web booking system, and business analysis for a newer HIS platform along with the integration points between them.

What makes hospital software hard is not any individual screen. An appointment has to be consistent everywhere it appears — on the patient's phone, at the reception desk, inside the hospital system — while those three are not the same system and do not update on the same rhythm. Most of the analysis time went into those joins rather than into the interface.

Because this is healthcare, this page describes the work at workflow level only. No patient data, no internal system detail and no operational information about the hospital appears here.

Projects

Scope of work

  • Android patient app: registration, sign-in, profile, notifications
  • Booking by specialty, doctor, date and time slot
  • Appointment management and reminders
  • Web booking: facility, visit type, department, doctor and slot
  • Information confirmation, consent and OTP verification
  • Patient record lookup within permitted scope
  • HIS business analysis: reception, outpatient workflow, orders, prescriptions, payments, health insurance
  • Integration analysis: app ↔ HIS, website ↔ HIS, payments, LIS, PACS, notification channels

Role

Responsibilities

Software Engineer / Business Analyst / Deployment Contributor

  • Mobile application implementation and the appointment flow
  • API integration and fixing what only appears in real use
  • Production testing and release management
  • Google Play publishing and App Store submission preparation
  • Runtime permissions and app-store privacy compliance
  • Requirements analysis and HIS workflow documentation
  • Integration documentation across app, website and HIS
  • Mentoring junior developers within the related scope

Projects

Key features

  • In-app appointment booking

Patients choose a specialty, a doctor and a slot, review their appointments and receive reminders. The flow is designed for ordinary users, not for staff already fluent in the system.

  • Web booking

The same business process in a browser, with an information confirmation step, privacy consent and OTP verification before an appointment is recorded.

  • Profiles and family members

Patient profiles and the case where one person books on behalf of a relative — extremely common in practice and routinely missed at design time.

  • HIS business analysis

Documentation of reception, outpatient workflow, diagnostic orders, prescriptions, payments and health-insurance flows, with role-based permissions and reporting requirements.

  • Integration documentation

The joins between app, website and HIS: data dictionaries, status mapping, error-code mapping and audit-logging requirements.

  • Release and compliance

Google Play publishing and App Store submission preparation, including permission declarations and the privacy disclosures each store requires.

Architecture & technologies

Engineering challenges

  • Health data is sensitive data

Every design decision has to weigh what may be displayed and what may be transmitted. The rule applied throughout: fetch and show only what the current action needs.

  • Several user flows over one process

Patients booking for themselves, relatives booking on their behalf, reception staff entering at the desk — three entrances to one appointment, and all three must produce the same state.

  • Appointment consistency across systems

An appointment exists in the app and in the hospital system at once. The hard part is the divergence cases: cancelled on one side, rescheduled on the other, connection lost midway.

  • Interoperability standards

The integration analysis had to account for REST APIs and HL7/FHIR considerations, with shared data dictionaries and status mapping so both systems mean the same thing by the same appointment.

  • App-store requirements

Health applications are reviewed more closely than most on permissions and data policy. Preparing that submission took real time and had to be right the first time.

Projects

Outcome

  • A patient appointment application published on Google Play
  • A complete web booking flow from department selection through OTP verification
  • Business and integration documentation for the HIS platform
  • Consistently described joins between app, website and hospital system
